Irtiza's Birthday Dinner @ Secret Recipe, Giant KD

Irtiza loves cakes. Whenever there are cakes (Whole or sliced) around, he would sing the happy birthday song. In some cases, he would even ask for lighted candles for him to blow out.

Last 10th January was Irtiza’s 4th birthday. It was Tuesday (a working day). Wifey and I originally decided to have a private birthday party towards the end of the month. But, on the way back from pre-school, he got excited to know it’s his birthday and wanted a cake. Our hearts melted, and we made an unscheduled stop to Secret Recipe, Giant KD.

"Ooohhhh...kek coklat!"

We planned to buy a whole birthday cake for take-away that evening, but at the last minute decided to dine-in for dinner first. Irtiza was already hopping frantically in front of the cake display. He wanted a chocolate cake, so we ordered a slice of Chocolate Indulgence. He then wanted a more pricey whole cake designed like a blue soccer ball. We just said that was someone else’s. Ermm…. :)

He actually wanted me to take this pic.

For drinks, wifey and I had our usuals; Green Apple Kasturi and Hot Chocolate. For dinner, wifey chose Prawn Macaroni with Cheese whereas I ordered the Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup. We actually wanted to order something different from the menus for a change, as we’re used to both dishes (plus want to grab the chance to taste other things…as it’s very rare for us to go to Secret Recipe). But after a while, we caved-in and chose just that.

Wifey’s macaroni was very nice, with the whole thing really melts in your mouth that Stephen Chow may likened it as ‘First Love’. The prawns were very springy and fresh that I savoured them slowly. The noodle soup was also a delight that I even drank the soup dry. The meat strips were tender and in large quantities. I do notice the MSG aftertaste though. My only real complaint was the struggle to hold the big meatballs with the given chopsticks.

Irtiza was well-behaved in the beginning, but showed his ‘other’ personality after that that we had to cut our dinner short. Food-wise, the foods were nice and tasty and the three of us tasted everything on the table. As for Irtiza, it’s a slice of cake for now….be a good boy and you’ll get a cake later this month, ok? :)
